I Did It Anyway.
Today I received my very first royalty payment for Diary of an Angry, Black, and Blind Girl!!!!!! OMGGGGGGEEEEEE‼️‼️‼️‼️
It might not have been millions…. Yet!! But it was something even bigger:
Confirmation.
Confirmation that my voice matters.
Confirmation that my story reached somebody.
Confirmation that what once felt impossible is now reality.
“When I dare to be powerful… my fears become less important.” ~ Audre Lorde
Here’s the part that still humbles me…
I published this book legally blind.
On my phone.
By myself. (Well, me and God!)
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” ~ Luke 1:37
No publishing team.
No perfect setup.
No waiting until conditions were ideal.
Just faith, determination, adaptive tools, and a refusal to let limitations define my legacy.
What once felt restrictive (vision loss, adjustments, uncertainty) became fuel. Instead of silencing me, it sharpened my purpose.
And now? I’m officially a paid author. WHAATT?!!?
Not someone talking about writing.
Not someone waiting for permission.
Not someone stuck in “one day.”
I did it anyway.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” ~ Philippians 4:13
This book holds vulnerability, healing, faith, frustration, identity, and the real experience of navigating life as a Black woman adjusting to vision loss while still choosing purpose, joy, and impact.
And before I go any further, thank you!!
To everyone who has already preordered, purchased, shared, reposted, encouraged me, or simply spoken my name in rooms I wasn’t in… this moment belongs to you too. I don’t take that support lightly.
And if you haven’t ordered yet, no worries! Here is your invitation. 🤗
Diary of an Angry, Black, and Blind Girl is more than a book. It’s testimony, reflection, healing, and truth-telling. If you’ve ever wrestled with identity, faith, limitations, resilience, or finding your voice, I truly believe something inside these pages will resonate with you.
Your support helps me keep telling stories, and helps open doors for other writers through GOD IS IT Publishing House.
This moment isn’t just about a check. It’s about my daughters seeing resilience modeled in real time. It’s about other writers who think disability, life circumstances, or lack of resources disqualify them.
It’s about building legacy.
I’m printing that royalty email and framing it - not as a flex, but as a marker:
This is where visible proof began.
I know this is just the start. More books. More impact. More storytelling. More freedom. So if something in your life feels delayed, restricted, or impossible right now…
Hear me clearly:
You can still create.
You can still build.
You can still tell your story.
You can still win.
Sometimes not in spite of your circumstances, but through them.
Sight limited.
Purpose unlimited.
And yes… I did it anyway.
